BOOKING AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Therapy Works

Therapy is not about being fixed. It is a collaborative process of understanding yourself more deeply, making sense of your experiences, and creating meaningful change.

While every person's journey is unique, the process often follows a similar path.

Step 1: Free Consultation

A Conversation, Not a Commitment

We begin with a free 20-minute consultation, either online or by phone.

This is an opportunity for us to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether we feel like a good fit to work together.

You do not need to prepare anything in advance and there is no obligation to continue.

The most important thing at this stage is simply to begin the conversation.

What we might discuss:

  • What has brought you to therapy

  • What you would like help with

  • Previous experiences of therapy

  • Any questions about how I work

  • Practical arrangements and availability

Step 2: Your First Session

Starting Where You Are

Many people worry about their first session.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive.

You do not need to tell your life story in one sitting.

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong.

The first session is simply a space to explore what is happening in your life and what has led you to seek support at this point in time.

Together we begin building an understanding of your current challenges, circumstances, strengths, and hopes for the future.

Step 3: Building a Shared Understanding

Looking Beneath the Surface

Many approaches focus primarily on symptoms.

While symptom relief is important, lasting change often requires us to understand the deeper patterns that influence our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships.

Over the next few sessions we begin exploring questions such as:

  • What keeps this difficulty going?

  • What patterns continue to repeat?

  • What needs have gone unmet?

  • What beliefs about yourself were formed along the way?

  • What resources and strengths can support change?

This process creates a shared understanding that helps guide our work together.

Step 4: Meaningful Change

Developing New Possibilities

As therapy progresses, we begin creating space for new experiences, new perspectives, and new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Depending on your goals, our work may involve:

  • Processing difficult experiences

  • Reducing anxiety and stress

  • Strengthening self-confidence

  • Improving relationships

  • Developing emotional resilience

  • Finding greater clarity and direction

  • Exploring meaning and purpose

Change rarely happens overnight, but it often begins with small shifts in awareness that gradually transform how we experience ourselves and the world around us.

Step 5: Review and Reflection

Therapy That Adapts to Your Needs

Therapy is not something that is done to you.

It is something we create together.

Throughout our work, we regularly review progress, explore what is helping, and adapt our approach to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.

Some people come for support around a specific challenge.

Others choose longer-term therapy as part of an ongoing process of growth and self-discovery.

There is no fixed number of sessions and no predetermined path.

BOOKINGS

There is great value in simply assessing where you are, where you are where would like to be. You can decide whether I am a good fit to accompany you on your journey.

Please contact me before booking the first session to discuss your options in further detail.

My fees will remain the same, unless we agree to review this. During the Coronavirus Crisis, I will be flexible about late cancellations, especially in the case of illness (either your own or that of someone else in your household). If I become seriously ill and am unable to contact you, I have a formal arrangement with a colleague who will then be able to access client contact details and who will inform you and discuss alternative arrangements. This colleague will only receive your contact details in the case of a serious emergency.

Payment:

Please make sure you make a payment at the time of booking a session. For all session taking place online, a session link will be sent once payment has been received.

If you cannot make a full payment, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me and we can discuss payment in more details i.e. installments.

You can make either a bank or PayPal transfer.

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking (within 24hrs) to secure your appointments. Failure to do so will result in automatic cancellation.
